Elfin Forest does not have a Main Street. The Fourth of July parade and picnic is as close as we get to one. The Town Council produces it every year. Rentals — chairs, tables, a DJ, portapotties — are the dull part that makes the day possible. The Foundation put $3,000 toward those costs in 2018 so the event was not a coin-flip against the Council’s other work.
What the community got
The community picnic went on without the Town Council having to raid program money for rentals. Neighbors showed up. That is the point.
